मनुष्य पुस्तक का कुछ अंश : पौष माह की भयानक सर्द रात के अन्तिम पहर से पहले ही वृद्धा तेज कवर अपने झोपडे मे चारपाई के विस्तर से सदा की तरह उठ बैठी। उसने सहेज कर गुदकी को एक ओर किया और सदे कदमो से झोपडे के बीचो-बीच अलाव के पात आकर, उसने लकडी के ठूठ से अलाव को कुरेदना शुरु किया। अलाव की तलहटी मे मद्धिम- मद्धिम आग लिए अंगारे……….
